This past September, King University announced a new addition to the school’s athletic department. That addition was the great sport of archery. As announced by Vice President David Hicks, Mark DeHart will be named the head coach of the team and will begin recruiting immediately. There is a lot to look forward to for the up-and-coming team.
DeHart brings an experienced background to the team. He has spent the past seven years as CEO and owner of D&L Education Solutions, focusing on training and retention solutions for technicians and workers nationwide. Moreover, DeHart has also competed in competitive rifle events and has experience in archery. He has instructed at Hartnell College in California and served in the United States Army, retiring as a Staff Seargent and active-duty instructor.
Overall, the addition of archery at King is exciting, as the school has not added a sports program in quite some time. As stated above, the team will be recruiting right away with the hope a team will be ready by fall 2024. The team will also be co-ed. For any questions about the team or interest in being recruited, see the article on KingTornado.com here or email Coach DeHart at madehart@king.edu.
