Mrs. William Somerville has announced that tomorrow will mark the official opening of the new college grill, The King’s Den.
The King’s Den is patterned after the old English pubs with a decor of black, red, and white. The tables and benches are stained in Old English style. An interested person contributed enough money to decorate the inside with odds and ends such as a copper mug and copper kettle.
Nine student workers have been selected to serve a variety of sandwiches and soft drinks. They are headed by Donna Demschock and Kay Wright. Their specialty unique to King College will be the super-duper Divine burger. It is a cheeseburger with lettuce and tomato for 45¢. The menu also includes bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwiches, ham and cheese sandwiches, hot dogs, grilled cheese sandwiches, and hamburgers. Pastries, candies, and ice cream will also be sold.
The King’s Den is a student project. Many thanks should go to the freshmen girls who sewed the curtains and the freshmen boys who helped with the tables. Because it is for students, the responsibility is on us to conduct ourselves as we would in any restaurant. For you bridge players the eight rustic tables are designed for comfortable bridge games. Bermudas are permissible attire. Smoking will also be allowed.
Business hours will be as follows:
- Monday through Thursday–11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m and 8:00 p.m. -10:00 p.m.
- Friday–11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.
- Saturday–11:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
- Sunday–6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. ONLY
The King’s Den promises something unique and different for King College.
