The Tornado has received quite a bit of recognition in the past few weeks, both locally and nationally. Six [volleyball] team members were honored, two as All-District players, two as All-Tournament players, and four as Scholar-Athletes. All-District players are named based on season stats, All-Tournament players are recognized for play at the District Tournament, and Scholar-Athletes must be juniors or seniors with at least a 3.5 GPA.
Coach Toomey gave the Kayseean profiles on each of the players honored:
All-District:
Debbie Allen—Debbie is becoming a dominating player in the middle hitter-blocker position. She leads the team in kill average, kill percentage, block average, and passing/serve reception. As one of the team captains, Debbie has demonstrated excellent leadership skills and is an inspiration to watch.
Kelly Toomey—Kelly is a setter and off-side hitter/blocker. One of her biggest contributions is blocking the opponent’s strong-side hitter. Kelly leads in setting percentage, is second in blocking, and is third in serving percentage and serve reception. Kelly is a smart player and makes good split-second decisions on set placement, crucial in close games.
All-Tournament:
Christa Hogan—Christa has come on strong as a player this year. She is one of the team’s strong-side hitters and has an explosive spike. This year she has gained consistency with her hitting and is an excellent server. Christa is a player who gives 100% all the time and has been an invaluable contributor to the Tornado’s success.

Scholar-Athletes:
Wendy Moody—Wendy is a pre-med major. She is one of the team’s strong-side hitters, and is a great server, passer, and defensive player. Wendy, having been a setter in high school, can fill the setting position when needed.
Crystal Coe—Crystal is a psychology major. She is a setter and a defensive specialist. Crystal is quick, aggressive, and never lets a ball touch the floor if it is within diving range. She is a tremendous encourager on the court.
Kelly Toomey—Kelly is a psychology major (see above).
Christa Hogan—Christa is a math major (see above).
