Tribute to Dr. Don Michael Hudson
Don Michael Hudson was a faculty member in the King College of Arts and Sciences and was also the Bible and Religion Department Chair. Throughout his life, Dr. Hudson accomplished various feats. He co-founded the Seattle School of Theology and Psychology in 1996, and at King, he developed an innovative class titled Foundations of Christian Thought and Practice. He also served as a visiting professor at various universities across the globe, including Perth; Australia, Vienna, Austria; Kiev, Ukraine; Monterrey, Mexico, and many others. Dr. Hudson authored, co-authored, or edited five books and written over 50 essays and articles in journals such as Imagiato et Ratio, Dictionary of Biblical Imagery, Mars Hill Review, Journal for the Study of the Old Testament, Inklings, The Everyday Study Bible, Sojourners, and Zeitschrift fur die alttestamentliche Wissenschaft.

King University Hosts 28th Annual Blue Ridge Undergraduate Research Conference
On Friday, April 1st King University hosted the 28th annual Blue Ridge Undergraduate Research Conference. Originally called the Southeastern Undergraduate Research Conference, this conference attracts widespread regional interest every year. It provides an opportunity for students to present their research in an exciting setting. Undergraduate students from institutions throughout the Southern Appalachian region are chosen to present their research projects in a professional setting surrounded by other researchers and faculty. This year’s conference was a one-day event, with sessions that started mid-morning. There was also a poster session and a reception for all participants and faculty.

As college students, it’s essential to know how to create a practical but professional resume when applying for jobs or internships. Depending on the job, you will be tasked with creating either a curriculum vitae, also known as a CV, or a resume. Each style requires certain things to make them stand out, such as an extensive cover letter or a simple design with minimal color. The difference between the two is a CV is lengthier, often including your experience, certifications, and publications; whereas a resume is a shorter, more condensed version with work experience and relating to the job you’re applying for.
Criminal Justice Professor Weighs in on Shopping Cart Case
The deaths of four women have been linked to one perpetrator, nicknamed the Shopping Cart Killer because of how he leaves his victims in or around shopping carts. The police have arrested suspect Anthony Robinson of Washington D.C., and have charged him with the deaths of the four women found at two separate locations in Virginia. Police also believe that he is responsible for a fifth victim as well.
Jewel Bell Reflects on Her 70 Years at King University
When Jewel Bell arrived at King College in 1952 with only sixty-six cents in her pocket, she never dreamed that a two-week job filling in for a maid would turn into a seventy-year-long career. Throughout her time at King, she has been a maid, a switchboard operator in Parks Hall, supervisor of the women’s dorm, and an executive administrative assistant for communications. Her current office has resided in the E.W. King Building since 1990, where she helps countless people find their way around campus and serves as gatekeeper to the president’s office, along with the president’s assistant, Holly Stevens. All the while, she offers a signature smile that everyone loves.
Tyler Feaster’s Senior Exhibition
Tyler Feaster is a senior majoring in Digital Media Art & Design (DMAD) at King University and graduating this winter. In order to receive a diploma in this program, she presented her capstone exhibition featuring photography and graphic design primarily consisting of the women’s soccer team, of which Feaster is a member. Her work was composed of portraits, with information on each of the soccer players, depicting their jersey number, achievements, and stats for the year. The exhibition was held in the TV Lounge on the evening of Friday, December 3rd. This was a public event, and all were encouraged to attend; and in addition to the exhibition itself, refreshments were also provided.
